"The Curtain Can't Go Up
Until The Wall Comes Down"

We've got a little
project on our main street:
A theatre that's really quite a jewel.
It's something that we've needed for a while now,
A project that'll make our city cool.
We've got the talent, got imagination
To stage productions that will fill the hall.
There's just one little detail that's a poser:
No one'll ever see 'em through the wall!
CHORUS
The curtain can't go up until the wall comes down.
Without a stage a singer cannot sing.
The show will never start until the footlights shine.
Without a pit the band will never swing.
No names will shine in lights upon the marquee.
No stars'll flicker on the silver screen.
The curtain can't go up until the wall comes down,
So we're achin' to be rakin' in some green.
Our house divided causes quite a problem.
With a wall, dramatic obstacles abound.
"O Romeo, O wherefore art thou Romeo?"
"I'M IN THE BLUE THEATRE - GO AROUND!"
An expensive proposition, we admit it;
But we all agree the wall has gotta go
We can kick and scratch and pound and curse and hit it,
But there it is until we get some dough.
(CHORUS)
